Create a listing in your closet

You can’t make money without selling items! Once you’ve looked over what you are able to sell on Poshmark, use the app to create a listing. Each of your listings automatically comes with the option to “Buy Now” and a “Make An Offer.” Note that you won’t see these buttons on your own listings since you can’t buy your own items. Rest assured, everyone else can. Make sure your items are seen and share, share, share within the app and to your social networks.

Made a sale? First things first…

You’ve made your very first sale? Congrats! Now it’s time to get the item to your buyer. Our system will automatically send you a shipping label for you to print, just ensure that your profile information is complete. If you didn’t get the label or can’t find the email, that’s no problem. You can download it directly from the app or the web.

Carefully package your item in the correct box

Now that you’ve made a sale and located your shipping label, you’ll have to package your item. make sure that you package your item with care. You want to make sure that it gets to the buyer in pristine condition.

It’s important that you take the proper steps to avoid any shipping mishaps. Poshmark sends all packages through USPS Priority Mail, so make sure you a Priority Mail box or envelope or another sturdy box you might have around the house. Just be sure you don’t get a USPS box that says “Flat Rate” on it, as it’s a separate class of mail than just Priority Mail. Using a Flat Rate box could cause delays and your buyer might not receive the package. Pro tip: you can order the correct boxes directly from USPS.com for free!

Ship your item to the buyer

Now that you have your package ready to go, securely tape the shipping label to the box and either take it to your local US Post Office or have your postal carrier pick it up right from your house. Once the USPS has received the package, it is scanned into our system. It’s that easy!

Get paid when the item is accepted

Once the buyer receives your package and has accepted the item, your earnings will be automatically deposited into your Poshmark account. Buyers have up to three days to accept the item and after that, the funds are automatically released to you, the seller.

Note that Poshmark takes a commission for each sale, which is used to ensure credit card safety and provide support from Poshmark to help create a fun, safe and ever-improving platform for our Poshers. For every sale over $15 that is made, you keep 80% of your sale. For any order under $15, there is a flat commision fee of $2.95. When you list an item, we make sure you know exactly what you’re making. Just check out the “My Earnings” section on the listing and you can see how much you will make for that sale price.

Your Earnings

Spend or save your earnings

Your purchase is complete and there’s money to spend. Woohoo! You can keep your earnings as credit in your Poshmark account and spend it within the app. Or if you’d prefer to have your earnings as cash, you can either set up direct deposit to your bank or have a check sent to you. On the app, you can simply go to My Account and choose My Balance. From there, you will be able to see your Posh Credit, Redemption Amount, and your Pending Amount. Just click on Redemption Amount and let us know if you’d like a direct deposit (which takes 2 to 3 business days) or a check (which takes 8 to 10 business days).

Posh Tip: How To Get a Host Pick

image

We often hear Poshers wondering how their listings can be chosen as a coveted Host Pick. Because Posh Parties are hosted by different users every day, it’s hard to say there is an exact formula that will guarantee your item will be shared by a party co-host. However, we do know there are a few things that come in to play.

Read on to see four ways to better your chances of getting that Host Pick email notification:

Know Poshmark’s Policies

Party hosts are asked to only share items that meet Poshmark’s selling guidelines and from closets who follow Poshmark’s policies. To nab a spot in the Host Pick showroom, read up on the rules by checking out the Posh Guide and committing the Community Guidelines to memory.

Posh Tip: Take Better Product Shots

image

We’ve shared a lot of advice on how to take Covershots in the past, but what about the other three photo shots? Once your Covershot has caught a potential buyer’s eye, you can seal the deal with other amazing shots. Read on for our tips on taking a great product shot:

Get Steady

Your photos will come out clearer if you brace your arm or camera on something stationary. This is especially important in low light situations.

image

Be Mindful of Your Surroundings

Make sure your foreground and background are clear of anything that may take away from your product shot.

Take Multiple Shots

Multiple shots means more chances at a perfect product shot. Use your device’s camera app to click away as many times as you need to get the shot.

image

Use Flash Sparingly

Your photos will turn out much better and look more like they do in real life if you keep the flash off and use natural light. If natural light isn’t available, try a brightly lit room rather than overexposing one area of the item you are photographing.

Tap the Screen to Focus

Avoid blurry images by tapping on the item you’re photographing to make the focus crystal clear. This tip is especially important when taking close up shots of your image.

image

Don’t Over Edit

Sometimes less is more when it comes to after effects. Make sure your additions and changes don’t take away from your amazing photography skills!

Try Something New

Experiment with the types of product shots you take. Get inspiration from fellow Poshers, try arranging items differently and give new angles a try.

Style Guide: Holiday Glam With Feathers

Since spotting Kate Spade’s feathered skirt, we’ve been slightly infatuated (okay, more like enamored) with the idea of having a style season a la feathers. Our hosts for tonight’s “Just Add Glam” Posh Party – Jennifer of Just Add Glam and Adiel of It’s Because I Think Too Much – are sharing how they fashion feathers for daytime on today’s post.

1. Feathers make such a fun statement, what is another bold trend you are loving for the holidays?

Feathers are always fun, but I love the idea of sparkle for the holidays.  It’s one of the few times a year where I feel a big presence of glitter, sequins and sparkle, so it’s fun to play around with that trend!

image

With this trend, it’s really fun to pair some glam sparkle (whether it’s a statement necklace or other jewelry) with a season-appropriate plaid. It’s a fun mix of masculine and glam!

image

2. Feathers are so festive and fun, but what are your tips for wearing them for daytime?

Feathers can easily be transitioned to daytime. You can embrace this trend by wearing white or natural-colored feathers in small amounts – think feather earrings or a feathered headband!

I really like statement outerwear this season. Bold prints or loud colors; I’m trying to stock my wardrobe full of ‘em!

2. Feathers are so festive and fun, but what are your tips for wearing them for daytime?

Feathered accessories are best for a day look; think earrings, handbags, or hair pieces. If you are feeling a little more daring, wear a feathered skirt with casual basics such as chambray shirt or basic tee.

How Do “Reserves” Work?

What is the Yellow Reserve Banner?

This automatically appears on a listing when a buyer clicks on the ‘Buy Now’ button on the listing. It remains there for 10 minutes while they enter their information and complete the purchase. This flag is controlled by the system and there is no way to manually add it to a listing.

How to Manually Reserve an Item

Poshmark does not currently support item reservations. However, some sellers elect to place an item as “Not for Sale,” a feature that clearly tells buyers which listings are no longer available in your closet. This includes items sold in bundles, reserved listings, notes, or purchases that you just want to share with other Poshers (#PoshFinds!). Listings that are marked “Not for Sale” don’t have a blue “Buy Now” button, but others will still be able to see, like, share, and comment on them.

To mark a listing as “Not for Sale”: click the “Edit” icon on the listing details page > select “Mark as Not for Sale.”

To make one of these listings available for purchase: click the “Edit” icon on the listing details page > select “Mark as Available.”
