We app-solutely LOVE seeing your #PoshStyle looks on Instagram each and every day, but we especially loved getting to see everyone rock their favorite Poshmark finds in person during this year’s PoshFest. Today we wanted to share just a few of our favorites from this unforgettable weekend.
There is a special place in our hearts for the too-short run of the series My So-Called Life. How many times did we wish we had friends like Rayanne and Rickie? How badly did we want the perfect bob haircut like Angela?
Perhaps the love comes from the way it perfectly captured the teenage experience, a time when we were waiting for our life to start and learning to accept the parts of ourselves that were different; all the while navigating the daunting social structure of high school. The show refreshingly displayed teenhood in all its angsty, awkward glory. That honesty not only made it inspiring but also groundbreaking. As we move closer to Fall, it is the perfect time to pay homage to our favorite Liberty High students by breaking out the ‘90s-inspired looks.
Angela not only had the best hair, she also had an awesomely relaxed and unique style. Overalls are not only comfortable, they also can be edgy and fashion-forward! Take a hint from Claire Danes and pair them with an awesome attitude and a crop tee, or glam them up with a silk blouse.
Plaid and flannel don’t have to be just stereotypical apparel of Generation X, they can also add that extra dose of color and pattern to an otherwise simple outfit. Tie it around your waist to show off your trendy style or wear it under your favorite oversized sweater for some perfect cold-weather layering.
On. Point. That is how we describe the aesthetic genius that is @studiocovet‘s closet. There’s a little bit of Jenna Lyons inspiration, edgy details and sexy sophistication, and it all comes together to be the perfect selection for the modern, fabulous woman at work or at play.
We had to know the story behind Josie’s closet and what inspires her style. Read more to learn how she infusers her closet with style – and how you can, too!
What led you to Poshmark and what has your experience been so far? I actually was an eBay powerseller back in the day. It’s in part how I supported myself in college. My friends say if I have a super power it’s definitely being able to find the most amazing deals, and I love passing them on. One girl can only have so many Gucci booties anyway. Almost as fun as the shopping is the photo shoot – I love styling and taking outfit pictures… and if I can make money too, well then even better! I love Poshmark as a place to share my finds as well as style inspiration, and I’m overwhelmed how positive the community is! I believe in helping other women and other girl bosses find a way to profit from their passions. Poshmark is the perfect place for that.
We are obsessed with how you’ve styled your closet. What was your inspiration? We’re young creative professionals and our closet is a reflection of that – pieces that you can wear to work or an after work cocktail that are professional and polished, but never boring. Our studio is full of graphic designers, art directors and photographers who perfectly marry their creativity with their ability to lead businesses. As a result our closet ends up being filled with bold classics that have an artistic edge.
Has having such a strong aesthetic point of view helped you make sales? I think that fashion (and beauty) are incredibly powerful tools to use in crafting your identity. I’ve always believed in developing an aesthetic point of view for myself, and sticking to it – it changes season to season. In fact I used to do a concept board for my personal closet every season as a way to decide what to invest in. Knowing who you are and who you aren’t unlocks the power in fashion. I think in terms of sales people start to associate us with a style both in our photography, and the items we have. As a result we definitely have repeat customers come back to us for more of what they know we do well.
What are some styling tricks to help a Posher take her closet to the next level? LIGHTING! I’d recommend Poshers experiment with lighting – it can be part of your closet identity. Play with natural lighting, but also try some low budget lamps at different angles. Other than that, have fun with it! We try to do “photoshoot Fridays.” We take time to play with hair and makeup and have some friends or colleagues over to take posh pics. Everyone loves a photoshoot so you won’t find it hard to find volunteers. Styling outfits and taking pictures can be incredibly fun – go for it!
Any favorite trends or pieces that you’re loving for spring? If you know us, you know that we love a shirt dress with a statement shoe, but for spring our closet is full of d’orsay shoes, leather minis, pencil skirts, menswear inspired oversized classic shirts, and a lot of stunning head to toe black and white. You’ll see all of the above in our closet soon.
Happy Monday! The Posh Party Line-Upis up and we’re excited to shop with our PFFs. This week we have Rosalie (@teachchicon Instagram) and Jessica from Domesticated Me as style influencer party hosts. Get curated picks when you shop along with them at 7pm PST on Tuesday during the in-app Posh Party. They’ve also stopped by to give us the inside scoop of what they’ll be sharing to the parties.
What can we expect to see shared to the Host Picks Showroom? I’ll definitely be looking for transitional work pieces that can be worn both to work, converted to casual weekend wear, or quickly adjusted for a spontaneous Happy Hour outing. Since we’re heading into the middle of fall with winter right at our heels, I’ll be looking for warm jewel toned blouses, blazers, and pants. I already have my eye on some faux leather leggings that would look great with a pair of stacked boots and a slim fitting blazer.
What are your favorite Work Week Chic pieces and trends? For someone who has always loved structured blazers, I’m looking for a staple blazer that can be worn a million different ways. The key to looking chic at work in my opinion is to buy pieces that look tailored for your body and to be able to layer it with your favorite comfortable tee or tank. I’m definitely expecting to share the not so typical blouse, fur vest, and boots that’ll keep a working gal comfortable and chic. Current trends that I’ll be looking to share will include blanket scarves, booties, and pretty much any wine colored accessory.
What can we expect to see shared to the Host Picks Showroom? Expect to see classic pieces with details that make you stand out. Some people believe the work place is not where you want to showcase your personal style. I am not one of those people! There are plenty of work-appropriate ways to use fashion to not only show your personality, but to also feel empowered and ready for what your workday will bring.
What are your favorite [party theme] pieces and trends? I love classic work pieces with bold embellishments. For example, white button-down shirts with jeweled collars, sheath dresses with leather details, boxy work bags in bright colors, etc.
We hope you’re rested from the weekend and are gearing up for another great week of Posh Parties! Our favorite brands and styles are back in the spotlight, and this week we have style influencers Ariana, Jaclyn, Taghrid and Kate hosting, along with members of our fabulous Posh community. So set your calendars and let’s get shopping!
