Understanding Your Performance Metrics

Get to know the performance metrics terms and concepts that you’ll encounter in your Promoted Closet dashboard, so you can better understand your promotions’ performance.

Clicks

The total number of clicks on your promoted listings.

Your listings are continuously promoted throughout the week until you accumulate enough clicks to reach your max budget. When a shopper clicks on one of your promoted listings, they are taken to that listing’s details page.

Listings Sold

Any listing sold from your closet within 28 days as a result of a shopper clicking on a promoted listing—including sales made through offers or Buy Now.

Sales

The total dollar amount for all listings sold as a result of promoting, based on the price you sold the item for.

Spend

The exact amount spent promoting your listings. You are charged your total spend at the end of a campaign for clicks by shoppers to your promoted listings. This amount will vary but will never exceed the Weekly Budget.

Cost-Per-Click (CPC)

How much you pay for every click you receive on a promoted listing.

CPC = Total Spend ÷ Total Clicks for a selected period of time.

Please note: The actual cost for each click varies based on a shopper’s search and your weekly budget. Check out How Your Budget is Spent for more information.

Click-Through Rate (CTR)

The percentage of shoppers who have seen your promotion that actually click on your listing to see more.

CTR = Total Clicks ÷ Total Impressions for a selected period of time.

Conversion Rate (CVR)

How often shoppers purchased your promoted listings after clicking on them.

CVR = Total Listings Sold ÷ Total Clicks for a selected period of time.

ROAS (Return on Ad Spend)

ROAS, or Return on Ad Spend, is a metric that helps you understand how much you’re getting back by investing a certain dollar amount to promote your listings.

When you make a sale through Promoted Closet, we will calculate the ROAS from that sale.

ROAS = Total Sales ÷ Total Spend

Impressions

Every time one of your promoted listings is shown to a shopper in high-visibility places like search or brand pages, we consider that an impression. Because your listings will only be shown to shoppers who are searching for items similar to yours, consider this as the total reach of your listings.

Please note: Impressions do not equal clicks—they are simply the number of times your promoted listings have been viewed by shoppers.
