That closet clean out has set you free and now it’s time to get rid of your pre-loved items! Why not list them on Poshmark to make some cash to go toward new purchases? Here’s everything you need to know about listing your very first item.
Pick an item to sell. Do you have an outfit you wore to an event, shoes that don’t quite fit right, or an item that you’ve fallen out of love with? Now is the perfect time to list it! Check out our blog on what to list to find out more about our prohibited items.
Prep your item. Check and make a mental note for any damage, discolouration, or other details to include when describing the condition of your item. It’s also a great idea to measure your item so that you can quickly let potential buyers know exactly how it might fit them. If it’s wrinkled from sitting in the back of your closet for months, give it a quick iron or steam to get it looking photo-ready!
Set the scene. No photo is complete without the perfect backdrop! Place your item in a clear, well-lit area, lay it down neatly paired with 1-2 aesthetically-similar items (your succulents or fashion magazines will do the trick), snap a few shots, or create a quick listing video to show potential buyers how the item looks in motion, modeled, and more! Don’t forget to photograph any noteworthy details or flaws. Read up on Posh Ambassador tips to snap the perfect covershot to help you get started here.
Titles and descriptions are key! Here is your opportunity to tell the buyer everything about your item. Be clear about the brand, size, and condition of the item, sizing and fit, and you can even describe how you would style the item. Be sure to put as many keywords and details as possible into your title, this is how buyers will discover your items! Still have questions about the do’s and don’ts of listing descriptions? Check out this blog post.
Now it’s time to publish your listing and get sharing. The best way to get your new listing seen is to share, share share! Share your own items as well as items you love from other Poshers, or share your listing to a related Posh Party for more eyes and a chance of having your item shared by the Party host.
The time to sell is now, those items won’t list themselves!
