1. What are your must-have items in your closet?
I tend to dress in layers because I ever know how hot or cold I will be when working on photoshoots, so good quality tees like James Perse, tons of well tailored blazers from Rag & Bone, and jeans like J.Brand that wear well without giving me “saggy butt.”

2. If you could splurge on 3 pieces, what would they be and why?

A great handbag because that’s basically my office and the first thing clients notice when I meet them, boots because they will last for years if taken care of and fabulous heels that make a statement even when wearing inexpensive pieces.

3. How has Poshmark helped with your styling business?

I have way too much in my closet and my styling kit – from things that can’t be returned from shoots to items gifted from events – so Poshmark has helped me make room by allowing me to sell items that have only been used once or not at all.

4. Who is your favorite person you have ever styled?

That’s a tough one. I had so much fun styling bloggers like Helena of Brooklyn Blonde and Jordan of Ramshackle Glam for TJMaxx because I had the challenge of staying within their distinct personal styles and covering the trends for the brand. Mike Tyson was another favorite because he liked how I styled him so much that he left with the outfit!

5. If you could have lunch with one celebrity, who would it be any why?

Joan Rivers. I met her recently at an event and was speechless. I don’t usually get starstruck. Being a Gemini, I’m usually a talker, but I could barely get a sentence out. She’s had quite a life and has done it all. We even have similar backgrounds, growing up as Jewish girls from NY, working in advertising and fashion. I’d love to pick her brain and see how she’s still doing it all while looking great at her age.

6. What is your fashion rule of thumb when it comes to trends?

Don’t be a slave to them and always make them your own.

7. How long have you been a stylist? What’s your favorite part about it?

I started out as an art director working on ads you may have seen in magazines and on cabs, but my favorite part of the job was coming up with the look that told a story and briefing the stylist for the photoshoot. It was a natural transition, and about seven years later I love that every day I’m doing what I love!

8. Do your Poshmark listings come from your personal closet or styling sessions?

Both. Between my lifestyle and advice blog, Dear Andi, and working in fashion, I need to constantly keep my wardrobe fresh. I also have way too much in my styling closet (yes, I have a separate closet just for that).

9. How do you describe your personal style?

I guess living in Brooklyn influences me a great deal, so I’m definitely downtown, laid back and a bit of 70’s bohemian. Everything I wear always has to have some sort of an edge to it – whether it’s through a black leather detail or chunky jewelry.

10. What is your go-to outfit for the fast approaching holidays?

Lots of black with a little sparkle. Lately I’ve been throwing on a sparkly vintage Givenchy sweater over a simple outfit for holiday parties because it’s easy and always a big hit.

Host Feature: Lucy of Daily Disguise

image

Not only is Lucy of Daily Disguise a local fashion blogger and an all-around cutie, she is a power Poshmark user and our host for tonight’s Posh Party! Without a doubt, we wanted to get up close and personal with her views on fashion, Zooey Deschanel, and of course, Poshmark!
1. Where did you get the idea to start your blog? What does your blog title mean?
I started my blog because I had just finished Law School, and with plenty of time on my hands and an overflowing closet, I determined to find better, more efficient ways to wear clothes that I already owned (and hopefully shop a little less). Eventually my blog transitioned from daily outfits into guides to help people wear items more than once, in creatively stylish ways, and thus my ‘5 Ways To Wear’ series were born. My blog title, Daily Disguise, just represents the day to day outfits that we meticulously plan every morning, our daily disguises.
2. How did you find out about Poshmark and when did you know you were addicted?
I found out about Poshmark through my good blogger friend, Sarah from The Weekend Diary, and realized I was addicted when each of my listings started getting shared and eventually sold quickly; I felt as if I was running my own little shop with customers and clients to satisfy.

3. If you could raid any ones closet who would it be and why?
Hands down, Zooey Deschanel; her style is so effortless, yet girly and edgy at the same time.
4. Your blog photos (and Covershots!) are absolutely stunning- who takes your photos for you and what tips would you have for other Poshmarkers?
My amazing boyfriend, Andrew. I first started off trying to take my own photos, but looking back on it now my current photos are a world of difference from my self-shot ones. If you don’t have someone to take your photos for you, my best suggestion is networking with some fellow Poshmarkers and bloggers and take each other’s photos; you’ll be able to capture angles and compose your picture in ways you wouldn’t be able to do yourself.

5. Why do you love Poshmark?
It’s an amazing way to effectively recycle and refresh my closet. Shopping other people’s closets is slightly addicting, too.

6. If the President of the United States was a designer, who would you elect as the leader of the most fashionable country?

Alexander Wang 2016.

7. What is your favorite summer trend?
Lucite! Clear heels, shoes, bags, you name it. Plus it sounds like my name!

Get to Know Poshmark User Songya

image
There’s nothing we love more than getting up close and personal with our community! We recently had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Songya, getting to know all about how she discovered Poshmark, what her favorite places to shop are and her fashionista inspirations.

How did you find Poshmark?
My friend Olivia introduced me to Poshmark. She downloaded the app for me and forced me to do my first listing, a floral Forever 21 dress.

How do you package your sales?
I steam all of my items first, even if they are clean. I’m not a great folder but I’ll fold my pieces nicely then I use brown craft-like paper to wrap them. They finally go in a bag with a note card.

Who are Poshmarkers you look to for inspiration?
I like the way Christina lays out her outfits; I browse her closet simply because it looks so nice! Lindsey has beautiful cover shots.

Where do you like to shop, besides Poshmark?
Big luxury retailers, but I’m not loyal to just one. A lot of Zara, cool pieces from F21, and Etsy for cool home goods.

Define your closet personal style.
Feminine, elevated, slightly edgy.

How amazing are these hand drawn note cards she includes in all of her Poshmark packages? Obsessed.

Where did you get your username?

It’s French, my boyfriend helped picked it. My username @magriffe means ‘my style’ ma=my Griffe=claw, which is slang for style

What was your best purchase on Poshmark?
A tank top from Pamela; it was shredded, and I wore it all summer.
Thank you to Songya for hanging out with us! Be sure to check out her fabulous listings below, and stop by her closet today!

Host Feature: Ghost Hunters’ Amy Bruni

image

You might recognize power Poshmarker Amy Bruni from SyFy’s Ghost Hunters. However, there is a lot more to Amy than just seeking spirits in haunted spaces! This “Massifornian”—Amy’s term for Nor-Cal native living in Boston—is also a new mom and fashionista with a keen shopping eye!

With a closet full of goodies from Anthropologie, Joie, Tory Burch, J.Crew, Frye, and more, we’re thrilled that Amy is opening up not just her wardrobe, but a little bit more about her life beyond paranormal investigating. Read on to find out more about Amy and be sure to tune into her Casual Cool Posh Party tonight at 7pm!

Poshmark (PM): How did you discover Poshmark?

Amy (A): I think I found it when someone I was following on Instagram posted their closet. I was like, “Oh no, what is this and why don’t I know about it?! I’m one of those people who is constantly rotating clothes, so Poshmark is perfect for me. The environmentalist in me loves Poshmark too, because I love giving a second life to designer fashion, rather than always buying new.

PM: Where do you Poshmark the most? At home? On the go?

A: EVERYWHERE. Oddly, I’ll find myself awake in the middle of the night, scrolling through Poshmark. When we’re working and have downtime, I’m scrolling through Poshmark. If I’m on a plane with WiFi, Poshmark.

PM: How do you decide what to wear for an investigation? Do you have a go-to outfit?

A: I almost always wear Converse or my Frye 12R Harness boots with skinny jeans—Hudsons or Citizens—and a tee of some sort. I’ll try to liven it up with jewelry, but anything too loud and the sound guy yells at me—haha! Sometimes I’ll throw on a vest or fun sweater, but it’s filmed in IR so very little of what I wear is even noticeable – which is so sad to me! I’ve definitely become known for my scarves. I wear scarves all year round, they’re an easy way to liven up an outfit and I figured that out quick on the show.

PM: Do you get to shop while you’re on the road with the TAPS team?

A: Yes! Too much! I always look for funky vintage stuff on the road. My favorite is this great vintage wrap skirt with a whole forest scene and deer on it. It looks like something from Anthropologie, but I found it in a vintage store in North Carolina for ten bucks.

PM: As an experienced traveler, can you share any tips for packing light and stylish?

A: Good jeans are your best friend; you can never spend too much on premium denim. Bring two pairs plus lots of tops and jewelry and a killer pair of heels, and you’re ready for anything. My bags are always stuffed with bulky work clothes with a little section of stylish stuff in case we have time for fun. I wear so many dresses, so I always roll up a couple and bring them along, too.

A huge thank you to Amy for hanging out with us, and be sure to tune into her “Casual Cool” Posh Party tonight in the app!
