What’s one thing aside from sequins that you just LOVE for the holidays? I always lean toward lace every holiday season. I love that lace adds a bit of romanticism to any outfit. You can roughen it up by adding a leather jacket or soften it up by adding a beautiful cashmere sweater (points for the pun)!

Red lips or smokey eyes? I love that either can add oomph to any outfit, but I’m a lip girl all the way. Lately I’m digging every liquid lipstick on the market. Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid lipstick in Beso is a staple for me and pairs perfect with a matte smoky eye (try the Naked Basics palette).

What’s your go-to piece of jewelry for the holidays and why? Gold, gold and gold. Between dainty necklaces, studs and midi rings, I love that I can go away for the holidays and carry just a few pieces of jewelry that go with everything in my weekend bag.

How can you repurpose a dress even after the holidays are over? I love adding a blazer to holiday dresses but recently I repurposed a beautiful printed dress by adding an oversized sweater to it. It’s totally out of the box and unexpected but having the dress peek out from under that chunky sweater made me want to wear it just one more night out!

What’s one thing aside from sequins that you just LOVE for the holidays? I’m a big fan of anything cozy and warm, and my favorite cozy garment is flannel! I’m part big-city gal and part true blue Mainah, so for the holidays last year I wore a flannel shirt with my gold sequined mini skirt! It was the perfect amount of juxtaposition, and I like to think that it worked! 😉

Red lips or smokey eye? RED LIPS, baby. You can’t go wrong with a classic like Ruby Woo by MAC, but this year I will be rocking a slightly vampy-er red lip with Revlon’s Black Cherry. One thing about red lips that you can’t forget – they must be matte! Shiny red lips will end up smeared across your face by the end of the night. Not cute!

What’s your go-to piece of jewelry for the holidays and why? I love a retro statement earring, like some sort of clustered jewel stud. I like to wear my hair up in an enormous, Carrie Bradshaw-inspired beehive updo, and earrings draw attention to my neck and décolletage.

How can you repurpose a dress even after the holidays are over? I am in love with the Alyssa Nicole dress I am wearing in my photos. I had a hard time deciding between red or black for this dress, and ultimately decided on the black because it is more versatile. Now I can wear it for date night with my boyfriend after the holidays are over!

Get Holiday Ready With @accessoriesgal

The holiday hustle and bustle has begun, but don’t let the impending busyness get you down. We caught up with accessories designer, blogger, and all around glam girl, Emily Kammeyer to chat about how to look and feel great all holiday season long.

5 Steps to a Fab Holiday Season

  1.  Make sure your hair, nails and skin are prepped. Get those split ends trimmed, make sure to do a great face mask and eye treatment (I love Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Instant Eye Lift and Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel) and get your nails glam ready.  Have a little fun with your nails! Pinterest is the perfect place for inspiration, here are a few of my favorites.
  2. Hit the gym. There’s nothing worse than binging on holiday cookies at your office party and feeling weighed down.
  3. Buy a great new piece of jewelry or two. Nothing like a little something sparkly to make your festive outfits feel bright and new.
  4. Plan your holiday looks in advance. Assess what is in your closet ahead of time and fill in the gaps early. Decide on an overall look you’re going for for each event and start planning your outfits ahead of time.
  5. Make yourself a festive holiday cocktail! You deserve it!

Emily’s Best Get-Festive Tips

Statement Earrings or statement necklace? I tend to go statement necklace every time.  I do love a great statement earring but they can get a little heavy.  Look for a necklace or two that is fun, bold and makes a statement!
Besides sequins, what are you excited to wear to those festive parties? There are two looks I’m super excited for!  An all-white outfit and a fringe outfit!  No white after labor day is no more.  And I am embracing it! I am loving the all winter white look and plan to rock that this season.  Additionally there was a ton of fringe at fashion week this season.  I am super excited to wear some super long, statement fringe.
