Here’s a breakdown of how much weight our pre-paid shipping labels cover in each country:
- United States: up to 5lbs.
- Canada: up to 2.5kgs.
- Australia: up to 2.5kgs.
- India: up to 2kgs.
If your package weighs more, you can get a label upgrade directly through the app for an extra fee.
1. Finding the Right Box
- United States: Our partnership with USPS allows you to use Priority Mail, Priority Flat Rate & Priority Regional Rate boxes. Note: Our label does not support Express Mail boxes. You can request FREE boxes from USPS? They’ll even drop them off at your house!
- Canada: With Canada Post, you can purchase any Priority envelopes or boxes. Note: Our label does not support Xpresspost boxes.
- Australia: With Sendle, you can use your own packaging materials or purchase their compostable A4 Satchels. Note: Avoid using branded packaging from other shipping carriers like the Australia Post.
- India: You can use your own packaging materials, shipped using our third-party shipping partner for a flat rate of ₹ 99.
- Posh Tip for all countries: You can also use a size-appropriate, regular brown box to ship your items (just make sure you remove any previous labels before shipping).

2. Packaging Up Your Sale
We recommend adding a special touch to your #PoshPackages.
Here are a few ideas that we love:
- Wrapping items with decorative (and recyclable!) tissue paper or a ribbon.
- Adding a heartfelt handwritten note explaining what a purchase means to you!
3. Placing Your Package In the Mail
Package Drop Off:
- United States: Drop your package in a USPS mailbox (if it fits) or drop it off at your local post office.
- Canada: Drop your package in a Canada Post mailbox (if it fits) or drop it off at your local post office.
- Australia: Select Package Drop Off when creating your pre-paid shipping label in the app. Print the label, attach it to your package, and drop your package off at the nearest Sendle location.
- India: Package drop off is not available at this time.
Package Pickup
- United States: Schedule a pickup online via USPS.
- Canada: Register as a small business (it’s free!) and schedule a pickup for a small fee via Canada Post.
- Australia: Select Package Pickup when creating your pre-paid shipping label in the app. Print the label, attach it to your package, and place your package outside for pickup.
- India: Create your printable shipping label by heading over to the Account tab, select My Sales, and then choose Package Pickup. Then place your shipping label on the package so it’s ready for pick up. Our shipping partner will collect it from your doorstep. Please note that pickup can occur anytime from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
Hello. Would I be able to use poly mailer bags to ship clothing, or would I still need to use a box?
Just a head’s up – tissue paper is NEVER recyclable. It’s too thin. Tissue paper CAN be compostable if it is not dyed. Any of the tissue paper with glitter (which is plastic) or designs is not compostable. Please remove it from the post as it’s incredibly misleading. When people put things in recycling that are not actually recyclable it contaminates (literally they are called “contaminants”) the rest of the recycling and may render all of it unusable.
Can I use the priority mail flat rate padded envelope?

I print my shipping labels out of paper. Can I tape over my shipping labels when I’m ready to ship them? If I tape over my shipping labels, will usps accept the package?
I do this all the time. Mainly because it is much cheaper this way. I like to tape over them so there is no way the label can mess up bc of the weather or tears. Ive been selling online for years and have never had an issue

Are the priority mail boxes free at the post office too? I ordered some but they are taking a while to get here. I wanted to know if I was to sell something before they get here if I would have to pay if I were to just get one at the post office?

Hi Jennifer, you can use another shipping box that you may have at home or pick one up for free at the Post Office.
Also, you may be dropping it in a blue box that is marked for stamped mail only. typically there’s a second blue box next to it, with a sign for Metered Mail (the bar code your referring to). If the box says stamped mail, they usually still take it but it is meant for literally, stamped mail, like letters, etc. hope that helps 🙂

The blog says Flat rate are ok and your comments say Flat rate is not ok. Which is correct?
Can I use a padded envelope for small items?
Hi Alex, yes, as long as the item is packaged securely to reach its destination with care.
I just wanted to point out that USPS does not accept shipping boxes wth a barcode in blue post mail box collectors.. You have to bring it into the post office. When you have a paid label you can either wait in line to have a worker scan it in or drop it off inside the post office in a designated area. You never put boxes in the blue collection boxes. That blue collection box is tailored for first class mail. (Source: 10+ years of selling items and trial and error with shipping, and of course USPS.com)
Hi Isabel, Our contacts at the USPS have again confirmed that USPS blue boxes are acceptible for handling Priority Mail, which is the class of mail used for Poshmark labels. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to support@poshmark.com.
You can actually drop the package in any blue box if it will fit, as long as it has a scannable label. The only items not accepted in the blue boxes are things that weigh over a pound and are hand stamped. If you have a pre-printed label, and it fits in the box, you can leave it in the box. I’ve never had a problem and I have shipped hundreds of packages.

I have someone that purchased two items from me and you sent me two separate mailing labels. Can I ship both items together and use only one label to get credit?
Hi Tracy, if the items were ordered separately – and not as a bundle – please send both as separate packages. Each sale has its own tracking with each unique mailing label. Hi Theodhora, Please use the USPS shipping label included with your sale and drop off at the Post Office or in a blue USPS drop box. The shipping label doesn’t work with other mailing services.
Could I drop it off there if the UPS Store near me accepts USPS items? I’ve never had a problem doing that with items (from other companies) that I’m returning.

Hi Dawn, PayPal is not a currently supported payment option within the Poshmark platform. Transactions happening outside of our platform are against our Terms of Service and can’t be covered under our Posh Protect guarantee. What do I attach the shipping label on with? Would just taping it on be fine?
Hi Madison, we recommend using packaging tape to cover and attach the full label, so it won’t be damaged in shipping.
Can I use a plain plastic shipping envelop to ship clothing? I have used these with Vinted and there was no problems. I just want to make sure it’s okay through poshmark as well!
Hi Ashley, yes, you can use these envelopes to shop your items as long as the items are secure and protected to withstand the journey to the recipient.
How do I trade?

When payment for the full value of items is not exchanged through the Poshmark system, we cannot guarantee that both parties will ship their items to each other as promised or as described. Trading is based on an honor system and is difficult for us to support. For this reason, we discourage users from trading on Poshmark as they are not protected.
Does the box have to be plain brown, or can I use a box I already have?

Hi Sabrena, it simply means that someone is considering creating a bundle from your closet. No action is required on your part. You’ll be notified if the buyer completes a bundle purchase via push notification and email confirmation.
I used a regular brown box that I paid for & I had to buy a stamp cause i couldn’t print it out, I was told that it was going to get a different tracking number anyways. Did I do it wrong?

Hi Mo, we recommend this only if the shoes are securely padded inside. If the buyer had requested the box, or that was part of the selling point, we recommend you use a secondary box.
